What Legacy Is

Legacy, in it's current form, is a fantasy name generator. You can choose what race you'd like to generate names for, and get randomly generated names in return. I use a mix of markov chains and pre-existing base names. At the time of writing this the generator consists of a dwarf, elf, witch and human generator. The names are currently very general, and inspired by different universes, such as lord of the rings and video game franchises like dragon age.

Why I'm Building It

I work a normal fulltime job, but I pretty much walk around all day thinking about things I want to build and create. It's always been difficult for me to get started, which is something that has kept me from turning my ideas to life in the past. I decided that I was going to challenge that, leave perfection on the shelf, and just start learning and building and see where it goes. That is pretty much where legacy comes in. Legacy felt like a fun and manageable way to start my journey into creating content.

My full vision of the website is quite a lot bigger than where we are today. I'll write a little bit about my future plans in the next section.

Work in Progress

This website is very much a learning project and a work in progress. I figured it would be more fun and motivating to bring the site live, despite not even being close to complete. I try to put in some work every day after my normal job, and will slowly add more features.

Some things I am working on or will be working on in the near feature:

• More specific name generators (e.g. medieval names instead of human names)
• Personality and life event generators
• Improved UI and graphics
